Texas hasn’t gone blue statewide in 30+ years — and Talarico is tied with Paxton
Broken Truth Headlines Desk
Texas hasn’t elected a Democrat to statewide office in more than three decades. A new Fox News poll still has Democrat James Talarico and Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton tied at 49%–49% among likely voters.
Paxton only got here by knocking off incumbent Sen. John Cornyn in the GOP primary. Talarico, a state rep and former teacher, beat Rep. Jasmine Crockett for the Democratic nomination — then skipped a Bernie Sanders rally meant to boost him while Sanders and Beto headlined in El Paso.
Last month Fox had Talarico up two points. The race is still rated a photo finish. Full poll: Fox News.
